Intimate Skin Lightening for Women
Professional Treatment for Uneven Intimate Pigmentation
Darker or uneven pigmentation of intimate skin is extremely common in women. Genetics, hormonal changes, ageing, pregnancy, friction, shaving, waxing and previous irritation can all contribute.
For women who would like to improve the appearance of intimate pigmentation, our treatment combines a professional in-clinic skin peel with an appropriate home skin-lightening cream.
The aim is a brighter, more even and natural-looking skin tone, rather than dramatically changing your natural skin colour.
How Does Intimate Skin Lightening Work?
Treatment takes a two-stage approach:
- Professional Skin Peel
A carefully selected peel is applied to suitable external skin to exfoliate the surface and help improve the appearance of uneven pigmentation.
- Home Skin-Lightening Treatment
You'll be provided with an appropriate skin-lightening cream to use at home as directed by your practitioner.
Your skin will be assessed beforehand to determine whether treatment is suitable and which areas can be safely treated.
What Areas Can Be Treated?
Treatment may be suitable for selected areas of external intimate skin and surrounding areas.
Exactly where treatment can be used will depend on your skin and the products being used. Your practitioner will clearly explain where products can and cannot be safely applied.
Results & Aftercare
Skin lightening is a gradual process, and the number of treatments required varies according to your natural skin tone, pigmentation and response to treatment.
Temporary redness, dryness, sensitivity or light peeling may occur. You'll receive aftercare instructions, including how to use your home-treatment cream and when to return to normal activities.
Results vary and cannot be guaranteed.
Intimate Skin Lightening FAQs
Does intimate skin lightening actually bleach the skin?
Despite the term “intimate bleaching”, the aim isn't to make the skin white. Treatment is intended to reduce the appearance of unwanted pigmentation and create a more even, natural-looking skin tone.
Why is my intimate skin darker?
It's completely normal for intimate skin to be darker. Genetics, hormones, pregnancy, ageing, friction, hair removal and previous irritation can all influence pigmentation.
How quickly will I see results?
Skin lightening is gradual rather than immediate. Some pigmentation may respond sooner than others, and results vary between individuals.
Is intimate skin lightening permanent?
Not necessarily. Pigmentation can return, particularly if contributing factors such as hormonal changes, friction, hair removal or irritation continue. Appropriate skincare or maintenance may be recommended.
Does the treatment hurt?
Some tingling, warmth or sensitivity may occur during or following a peel. Your treatment will be selected according to your skin and the area being treated.
Will my skin peel?
You may experience temporary dryness, sensitivity or light peeling. The amount of visible peeling varies between individuals.
Can I shave or wax before or after treatment?
Shaving and waxing can temporarily irritate the skin. You'll be advised when to stop hair removal before treatment and when it can safely be resumed afterwards.
Can I have sex or exercise afterwards?
You may need to temporarily avoid sexual activity, strenuous exercise, excessive sweating and friction while the treated skin recovers. Your practitioner will advise when normal activities can be resumed.
Can I have intimate skin lightening after pregnancy?
Potentially. Hormonal changes during and after pregnancy can affect pigmentation, so suitability needs to be assessed individually.
Always tell your practitioner if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or have recently given birth before using any peel or skin-lightening product.
Are there any side effects?
Possible reactions include redness, dryness, sensitivity, irritation, peeling or unwanted pigmentation changes. Professional assessment and correct product use are particularly important when treating intimate skin.
Is treatment suitable for darker skin tones?
Potentially, but treatment needs to be selected carefully. Different skin tones can respond differently to peels and pigmentation treatments, so your practitioner will assess your skin before recommending treatment.
Can I use an intimate skin-lightening cream bought online?
Using unsuitable or unregulated products on intimate skin can cause irritation, burns or unwanted pigmentation changes. Products should be appropriate for the treatment area and used according to professional advice.
