FACIAL CONTOURING

contouring

Facial contouring requires both artistic skill and in-depth knowledge of facial anatomy to restore and create harmonious facial features. The whole face can be treated to achieve balanced symmetry and beauty.

Facial contouring can also correct facial imperfections not just related to ageing, but also as a result of genetic factors.

We use advanced facial contouring techniques, which involve a range of procedures to restore, sculpt and re-balance facial proportions.

We use facial contouring to:

  • Restore facial volume and contours
  • Correct facial proportions to create balance
  • Provide non-surgical solutions for facial contouring

Achieve harmony and balance in combination with face-lifting procedures, chemical peels and toxins.

What areas can we treat with facial contouring?

Cheeks
A youthful cheek is full and symmetrical sitting on a good bone structure with strong muscular support. With age the bone, muscle and fat depletes and the overlying skin loses its elasticity. By subtly restoring volume in the cheek and smoothing the transition between the lower lid and cheek, the facial proportions can be restored.

Forehead
Other than wrinkles and lines we may not consider the forehead an area that would need facial contouring. The large muscle that covers the forehead is responsible for raising the eyebrows, and is in constant use. However, with age the muscle gets weaker and the fat covering the forehead, although not as dense as other parts of the face, depletes and no longer supports the eyebrows contributing to the lines and folds. A combination of facial contouring and Botox can rejuvenate the forehead and upper brow area and restore hollows and deep wrinkles. =

Temples
The temples are often forgotten about when considering facial contouring, but they form an area of significant importance between the cheeks, eyes and forehead. When the temples begin to hollow, they can make the face look gaunt and skeletal and this can be further emphasised if only the cheeks are volumised. When planning a facial contouring procedure, it is important that each individual area forms a seamless contour with the next.

Eyes
The eyes are considered the ‘windows to the soul’ and they are one of the first areas of the face to show signs of ageing. The main concern for most of us is the fine lines that appear under and around the eye. These crow’s feet can be managed well with Botox and, when combined with the ‘eye-opener,’ a non-surgical eye-lift can be achieved. The tear trough procedure corrects the hollows under the eyes and a combination of chemical peels and skin-tightening procedures can improve the fine lines and loose skin on the upper and lower lids. The brow bone is a support not only for the brow, but for the eye lid too. When the bone density decreases and the fat pad that lies over it thins, then the brow can drop and the lid will look heavy. Facial contouring of the eye area can restore many of these ageing concerns.

Chin
The skin on the chin can be the first to show signs of ageing with textural changes and open pores. As the skin ages the chin area often doesn’t match the texture of the rest of the face and prescription skincare and chemical peels can improve this significantly. The chin is a dynamic part of the face, meaning that we use it a lot in facial expression which can lead to ageing problems such as the so-called chin ‘crease’ and ‘mouth frown’ and both can be corrected using facial contouring. The area under the chin can accumulate fat and excess skin, while the area between the chin and jaw becomes less defined and uneven, in which case a combination of lifting and facial contouring is needed.

Jowls
The start of a jowl is often seen as a hollowing either side of the chin. In the early stages this is an area that responds extremely well to advanced facial contouring techniques. This can be combined with skin tightening procedures and, in some cases, the Nefertiti lift can improve the definition of the jaw line. Once the jowl becomes more prominent, non-surgical or surgical lifting procedures can be introduced to replace the support that has been lost in the mid-face. The formation of jowls can be a concern for both men and women, but with facial contouring the need for radical surgery can be avoided until much later.

Nose
Traditionally we think of surgery to correct imperfections of the nose. However, with more advanced techniques available we can successfully treat a range of concerns. Conditions such as nasal flare and a descending nasal tip can be effectively treated using Botox. Uneven contours and imperfections can be masked using advanced contouring techniques and give long-lasting results. Symmetry can be restored in the nose using these techniques and provide a welcome alternative to surgery.

Ears
The ears are equally affected by the ageing process. Some complain of elongated ear lobes, which don’t look aesthetically pleasing when wearing especially heavy earrings. Ear lobe reshaping and contouring can relieve some of these concerns and restore confidence. In some cases we may have to perform a small procedure in order to tighten an enlarged ear piercing or when the ear lobe had been damaged by piercing or other causes.

FAQS

Do facial contouring treatments give instant results?

In most cases the answer is yes. Whilst a combination of products may be used the initial results can be seen instantly and patients can review this with the Doctor and adjust to achieve perfect balance and symmetry.

Does facial contouring offer a good alternative to surgery?

It some cases it definitely can so it is ideal for those that are apprehensive about making permanent changes, are unsuitable or cannot afford surgery. Facial contouring has a minimal recovery period, so is ideal for those patients that cannot take too much time out of their busy schedules.

Are facial contouring procedures painful?

The skill of the Doctor is a key factor in the comfort of the procedure. We make every effort to ensure you experience minimal discomfort. We also have gas and air (laughing gas) in the clinic which works well to put anxious patients at ease.
